The following is a very interesting entry from fellow member, Marielle Robichaud. She is a costume designer and multimedia artist.
“I am Marielle Robichaud, costume designer and multidisciplinary artist. One of my clients is "École de danse Louise Lapierre", located at 1460 Mont-Royal E, Montreal. (celebrating it's 45'th anniversary this year). From October to May, I design and produce the costumes worn by 600 dancers of all ages, for their annual show at Théâtre Denise Pelletier at the end of May. I have been making their costumes for 18 years. First, I meet with teachers for direction, themes, colors, etc. Then I sketch my suggestions and make patterns and samples. The dancers get to try on my samples in different sizes, so I can fill in my order sheets. Back in my sewing studio, I cut the production and send it out to be sewn by a team. The rest of the year, I work on all kinds of projects, from wedding dresses to jeans repairs. And of course, I paint as often as I can, with a few exhibitions every year. You can see my costumes here (photo credit: Robert Geoffrion, G. Soyer). And to see my art, the link to my web site (still under construction) is for now:

What WASM members did the week of March 12th, 2018

Wow! The parade was so much fun! We all got to the corner of St. Urbain and De Maisonneuve by 12:30pm. We were all bundled up, we didn't feel the cold, and we grooved to the music that was blaring next to us. We started to walk by 1:25pm and we got to the end by 2:40pm. The time went by soooo fast! Then some of us went for a hot lunch. Great day! Thanks to our wonderful participants: Mary Lennon, Vera Burt, Annette Wolfstein-Joseph, Pamela Tait, Sergio Esquivel, Cathy Keays, Clare Keays, Miguel da Costa Frias, and Veronica de la Colina. Elaine Bacal and her friend Philip came by for a photo shoot before we started walking. We gave out about 1200 WASM flyers. Way to go WASM!
Cathy Keays went to see the marionettes of Theatre Sans Fil on exhibit at the gallery in Place des Arts, March 21, 2018. The exhibit is on until March 25th, so if you are in the area, go have a look. They are magnificent.
Elaine Bacal went previously to take some photos of the marionettes. Samplings of the photos she took of the marionettes appear in the collages. The third collage is a collection of photos from L'Art Souterrain happening in Complexe Guy Favreau.

Some activities that WASM members did on March 8th, 2018

To celebrate International Women's Day, McGill Professor Jane Everett discussed Gabrielle Roy's reflections on women's lives. Cathy and Maura attended.
Cathy Keays and some other WASM members went to see the film called “Cézanne, Portraits of a Life” at the Cineplex Forum. Cathy says it was excellent: “We got to know about Cézanne’s life and his trials and successes in painting. The film was mostly about his portraits, but it also talked about how he was the pioneer for modern art for painters like Picasso and his abstracts. His landscapes are modern in that instead of using the classical atmospheric perspective, he created perspective with his use of different planes of colour.”
